Tony does us one last favor and picks us up at 7:15 with his car to drive us to the French side, where are are officially, to go to immigration and check out of the country.
We use the opportunity for a “manifique petit dejeuner” before we return to JACE and wish Tony goodbye. He feels more like a friend than a business contact and we promise to take him sailing when we come back through.
Brad and I have an hour before we have to slip our lines to make it to the 10:30 bridge opening. After final prep JACE is ready to go and we cast off.
Out on the ocean we find light but steady winds of 9-12kn and set sails. Great conditions and with both foresails we reach 5kn on an upwind course. Not bad! I love every second of it.
As forecasted the wind drops and veers further on our nose and we are forced to douse sails and motor for now, heading further east.
We start our 3on/3off watch schedule and I actually manage to get some sleep between 3-6p despite the loud engine.
Mid afternoon we have some very welcome visitors. A pod of 5-7 dolphins swims with us and plays on our bow wave for a few minutes. It’s one of the highlights for most sailors and never ceases to amaze. Such wonderful creatures.
Our first sunset isn’t too shabby either and the tropical night falls quickly after. Currently we are making our way east of St Kitts and in a couple of hours will pass Nevis and then dive straight south. Hopefully with some more wind soon.
Our tracker is live and can be found on the “Find Us” page. Enjoy!
