So much to organize: Completing the purchase, organizing insurance, registering our VHF and EBIRP with the US FCC, updating our website, deciding where to register JACE, selecting and booking the boatyard where we will store her on Grenada during hurricane season, buying some of the needed equipment and supplies. And the list goes on.
At the same time we’ve been making huge strides in preparing our house for rental come October. Seems far away you might think. But there is much to do and Karin is planning on being in Europe Jul-Sep. We’ve decluttered a lot of stuff that’s been overdue to be sold or gifted or thrown away. Lots of kids clothes and even our wardrobe is now much tidier, a bedroom repainted and nice pictures taken for the rental ad that’s supposed to go up by June.
And all the while there is our regular life: my job, Krissi nearing high school graduation, and many friends who we tried to meet and share the exciting news. And somewhere in there I even managed to do two long and very mountainous bike rides in training for my big Tour de France ride in July.
Like I said: it’s been a whirlwind.
Now I sit at JFK awaiting my flight to St Maarten. The redeye from SFO was fine but I was too restless to catch any sleep. My flight leaves in an hour and by noon I will be meeting Tony and he will ferry me over to JACE.
Hard to believe: in just a few hours she will be officially ours and tonight I’ll sleep onboard for the first time.
So exciting. More updates to come.
