We are Karin and Andy. We love to sail. We love the ocean, its sounds, sights and smells. And we love living on a sailboat, slowly wandering about, exploring unknown waters and lands. A floating home with everything we need and like while we cruise this beautiful blue planet.

Andy learned to sail as a teenager in the waters of the Baltic Sea. As a family we fell in love with the cruising lifestyle when the kids were little. When the kids were still pre-teens, we had the opportunity to take a sailing sabbatical for half a year sabbatical. We bought our first boat and zigzagged all over the eastern Mediterranean Sea. For years after that our summers were spent on and in the water.

That is where the dream of a longer voyage on our own keel was born and through the years carefully researched, planned, and dreamed about. Those of you who know Andy won’t be surprised. Now the kids have flown the coop and are cutting their own paths through life. And we are still young and fit and full of energy.

So the time has come for us to take that plunge and live our dream! Carefully at first, with another half year cruise, this time in the Caribbean. There is a bigger adventure behind that. But the “if and when” is still unclear and we are not ready to talk about it quiet yet. First things first: the Caribbean, on our new boat, just the two of us.

SV JACE

Meet our pride and joy, sailing vessel “SV JACE”. Sailors are very attached to their boats. So are we. We spent a lot of time researching the type of boat for us and for this trip and even more time scouring the planet until we found her. Or she found us, as we like to say.

SV JACE is a 49 ft blue water cruising monohull built in 2006 by Moody Yachts in the UK. She is our home, our transport vehicle, or safety capsule, our swimming and diving platform, our party central, our unceasing source of maintenance and repair jobs. Most importantly, she is our companion and friend.
