Itinerary
- Oct: Leave Gibraltar to the Canary Islands
- Nov-Dec: Cross the Atlantic as part of the ARC
- Dec-Jan: Celebrate Christmas and New Years in the Caribbean
- Jan-Apr: Cruise up the Windward and Leeward Islands to the BVIs
- May: Cross the Caribbean Sea and sail down to Curaçao
- Jun: Haul out for hurricane season
- Jun-Oct: Take 4 month off – travel South America and spend time at home
- Oct-Nov: Leave Curaçao and cruise the Colombian coast to Panama
- Dec: Transit Panama Canal and celebrate Christmas in Panama City
Year 1 starts off with our first long passage across the Atlantic. We’ll do that as part of the ARC which is both fun and safe. Andy has done it before and it’s a great way to get our sea legs under us.
Then we’ll slow down and get into serious cruising mode by sailing up and down the Caribbean islands. We first head south and visit the Grenada and the Grenadines with its many small islands. Then we slowly work upwind – north – to take it these amazing island nations.
Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Antigua, St. Maarten, and all the way to the British Virgin Islands.
With hurricane season fast approaching, we’ll make a short passage down to Curaçao where we’ll haul out Blue for safekeeping. Now we have some time to take a break from cruising, visit various sites in South America and spend time at home.
Once safe, we’ll relaunch and sail west along the beautiful but rarely visited Colombian coast and the San Blas Archipelago to Panama.
After a couple of weeks of prep we transit the Panama Canal and finish off year 1 in Panama City, where we celebrate Christmas and provision for the long passage across the Pacific.
